Michael Logan is a Scottish novelist and journalist, currently based in Nairobi, Kenya.
His first novel Apocalypse Cow - a comedic tale of zombie animals overrunning the UK - was joint winner of the Terry Pratchett Anywhere But Here, Anywhen But Now prize for debut novelists, and is published by Transworld. Currently out of the journalism market due to being busy with fiction and other stuff, Michael was previously Managing Editor of Somalia Report. He was also a correspondent for the English newsroom of the German Press Agency dpa, based in Nairobi and covering East, West and Central Africa for three years. Michael also spent three years as dpa's correspondent in Hungary. He freelanced for several years prior to that - in both Hungary and Bosnia - for a variety of publications.
Michael's articles have appeared worldwide in publications such as the CS Monitor, Business New Europe and The Sunday Herald, as well as being syndicated to CBS and ABC.
He has reported on a wide range of events of global interest, from piracy off the coast of Somalia to World Economic Forum meetings in Davos to the 2010 South Africa World Cup, and has covered visits from top world leaders such as George W. Bush, Tony Blair and Vladimir Putin. He has also interviewed top level politicians.
